Discover BPK 2021

Discover BPK 2021 is happening on Thursday, February 4th from 5:30-7:10 pm! The BPKSA is excited to welcome SFU alumni working in a variety of fields including occupational therapy, physiotherapy, respiratory therapy and ergonomics! The event will be hosted via Zoom in the form of a panel discussion, with an opportunity for participants to ask any questions they have for speakers. Details for the Zoom meeting will be posted on Eventbrite and sent to all attendees, closer to the date of the event. OzTREKK – Study Rehab Science in Australia!

On Thursday, February 6, OzTREKK will be hosting their annual Study Rehab Science in Australia event. Come out to meet with seven Australian University representatives to learn about studying programs like: Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Chiropractic and Medicine. The event will be a Q and A panel with Australian Physiotherapy Graduates. You will learn about admission requirements, what life is like in Australia, and what the process is like to return to practice in Canada.
 
Location: Simon Fraser University – Saywell 10061
Date: Thursday, February 6
Time: Panel Q&A: 5pm – 6pm
The panel members will consist of:
 
  • Tiffany Chang – (University of Melbourne, Doctor of Physiotherapy graduate)
  • Wilfred Ly – (University of Melbourne, Doctor of Physiotherapy graduate)
  • Audrey Wong – (University of Sydney, Master of Physiotherapy graduate)
There will be a ton of free food at this event!

KIN WEEK!

Hello Everyone! This Week is National Kinesiology Week and we have some events planned to celebrate it. Here are alllll of the details:


Tuesday, November 12th:
We are having a Kinformation Session from 12:00pm-2:00pm in the BPK Lounge where we will have some lab equipment set up for students to try out. We will also have some take-home information handy for you learn a little bit more about what kinesiology is, its importance, and some opportunities available in kinesiology. You are also welcome to ask senior students any questions you might have about kinesiology. We will do our best to answer!
There will be free food courtesy of BCAK, plus some give-aways. ALL SFU students are welcome, so ask your friends in other departments if they are interested in learning more about kinesiology!

Wednesday, November 13th:
OzTREKK is putting on an information session from 12:00-1:30pm in the BPK Conference room (K9624) so you can learn more about graduate programs available in Australia. An SFU alumnus will be there to share their experiences about how they became a Physiotherapist while studying in Australia and utilizing OzTREKK’s free services. There will also be a pizza lunch provided!

Thursday, November 14th:
Come participate in our weekly Coffee and Conversations break in the BPK lounge from 10:00am-11:00am. Connect with peers and professors with some free coffee and snacks!

Friday, November 15th:
The BPKSA is closing off Kin Week with an 80s style rock climb at the SFU Climbing Wall from 7:00-8:30pm! There are only 15 spots available for the rock climb, so SIGN UP while you can. Since spots are limited, we ask that you please cancel your spot in order to free up space for other students if you realize that you cannot make it. Entry is completely FREE!
**Brightly colour spandex and sweatbands are strongly encouraged**
After the climbing, we will all be heading to Club Ilia for some drinks and appetizers. If you cannot make the rock climbing, feel free to come join us after 8:30!
