Meeting Minutes
Wednesday, August 3, 2016
Opening:
The meeting of the BPKSA was called to order at 1:30pm by Garveen in the BPK Seminar Room.
In Attendance:
Garveen, Lisa, Joanne, Debbie, Kirstin, Bader, Erina, Emily, Matt, Megan
Open Issues:
1) BPK 101 & Kickoff
-first day of classes is Sept 6th, BPK 101 is Sept 9th
-will send out a registration link to the first years in mid-August
-will do classroom presentations the first week:
-Kin 142 (Surrey): Wed Sept 7th 10:30am SUR2750 (Megan)
-Kin 110 (Burnaby): Tues Sept 6th 8:30am B9201 (Erina)
-Kin 142 (Burnaby): Tues Sept 6th 10:30am B9200 (Erina)
-Kin 143 (Burnaby): Wed Sept 7th 10:30am AQ3150 (Erina)
-Kin 140 (Burnaby): Thurs Sept 8th 8:30am AQ3182 (Megan)
-Matt will create a Facebook post and a BPKSA website post
-Lisa will design a poster for BPK 101
-Sept 1st there is a Faculty of Science Welcome Day, there will be a table set up near the BPK Main office, can have Lisa possibly advertise for us
-Garveen will draft the book for the scavenger hunt, we can sign off for each task they do and if they take pictures of their team completing the task they get bonus points (and we can use the pictures for advertising in the future)
-Garveen will talk to Claire today to book tables
-will create a response survey to give out at the end of each event for student’s to complete before they go home
-the registration deadline for BPK 101 is Thurs Sept 8th at midnight and for BPK Kickoff is Wed Sept 14th at midnight (will allow registration the day of too)
2) SUS
-Disability Awareness Week is from October 17-21, if you are interested in getting involved please contact jheaven@sfu.ca
3) Fall Semester
-Garveen will send out a Doodle Poll to gather everyone’s availability so we can schedule our Fall meeting time
-elections will be held on Thursday Sept 22nd
-all positions will need to be filled: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, SFSS Forum Rep, Departmental Committees Rep (BP & Kin), External Relations Officer, Promotional Coordinator
-please email Garveen if you are interested in running for any of the positions (bpksa@sfu.ca)

The meeting of the BPKSA was adjourned by Garveen at 2:10pm in the BPK Seminar Room. The next meeting will be held in the Fall Semester, time and place to be determined!
