Meeting Minutes

Opening:
The meeting of the BPKSA was called to order at 1:00pm by Megan in the BPK Graduate Student Lounge.
In Attendance:
Crystal, Emily P., Tiffany, Jaskarn, Brandon, Aaron, Jordan, Emily C., Omid, Megan
Open Issues:
SUS Winter Formal Event
This formal event is next Friday.
$30 for tickets from SUS
Asking for $40-$50 to contribute toward the event.
We are interested in supporting the event but we just have to figure out the details.
Kin Cup
Varsity Gym cannot be rented out anymore for use.
East gym, which can accommodate the indoor soccer nets is fully booked Mon-Fri, there is availability on the weekend though (Sat Feb 25th 12- 4pm & Sun Feb 26th 8am -5pm)
These are the available dates Rec provided:
Mon Feb 27th or Mon Mar 6th East Gym 5:30-7:30pm (*although this is East Gym, there is not enough time to set up the soccer nets as the gym is booked before & after and they require 30 min to set up/take down)
Tues Feb 28th, Thurs Mar 2nd, Tues Mar 7th, Thur Mar 9th Central East Side 5:30-7:30pm
Fri Mar 3rd, Fri Mar 10th Central East Side 5:30-9:00pm
We think the Thurs and Fri during the first week of March is ideal.
We have to wait for Tony to decide for dates and sports but potential other sports instead of soccer are: floor hockey, ultimate, touch rugby, futsal with cones instead of net.
Won’t order t-shirts this year, maybe in the summer can look into ordering Kin Cup pinnies that can be used yearly.
BPK Clothing
Had a great response to the WebSurvey from over 120 students!
Looking at the most popular responses we have decided to sell:
Crew Necks (charcoal grey, SFU BPK ECG design)
Dri-fits (black and dark grey, smaller SFU BPK ECG design)
Sweat Pants (grey, old sweat pant design)
Heart t-shirt (blue, red, grey)
Had a lot of other good suggestions: in the summer should look into selling mesh athletic shorts and for fall a more professional looking zip-up jacket. Other items we could buy to give away include lanyards, shaker bottles.
Sun Run
Crystal looked into pricing, and unfortunately the student discount is only for 18 year olds and under.
So registration including tax will cost: $51.45 before Feb 10th (early bird pricing) and then $59.85 until Mar 31st
Decided to create the team and see the response we get before looking at subsidizing the registration fee for students.
Megan will create the team and email out the details.
Website Update
All execs please email Megan (bpksa@sfu.ca) the picture you would like displayed on the website (please make sure it is a professional looking headshot, can use the ones we had taken last semester).
Please also include your favourite BPK course(s) and why? (Examples can be found here http://www.bpksa.org/who-we-are/executive-members/)
OzTrekk Event Debrief + Pub Night
Event went very well and over 60 people showed up.
Kati would like to take the execs out for dinner, look for a Doodle poll to be sent by out by Jordan to pick a date/time.
They would like to sponsor a Pub Night, Jordan & Brian will start planning the trivia and music, if anyone is interested in helping please contact them. Also need to decide on a date for this.
