Opening:
The meeting of the BPKSA was called to order at 1:00pm by Megan in the BPK Graduate Students Lounge.

Open Issues:
1) Kin Cup
-Tomorrow Friday March 3rd from 6-8pm
-Access to gym starting at 5:30pm
-Winter Kin Cup will stick with traditional sports – basketball, dodgeball, and soccer
-Summer Kin Cup open to new sports
-Look into ordering pinnies for future Kin Cup events
-Katie will bring nets for soccer; cannot use indoor hockey nets
-Kin Games fundraiser for JumpStart –water bottles and juice boxes available by donation, also collecting used sports equipment
-Nesters gift basket raffle with donation to Jumpstart
-Snacks will be available for free – bananas, granola bars, fruit snacks
2) Spring Clothing Sale
-Not many orders for sweatpants – possibly because we didn’t have samples or price was too high
-Ordered full set of sample sizes for the next clothing sale
-Will consider ordering women’s sweatpants if people express interest and sales increase
-Interest in WebSurvey didn’t match orders – most popular items were crewnecks and heart shirts
-One sale per term is a good frequency
-Location of sale by BPK office is not as convenient as AQ tables – problem is that AQ tables get booked early, then none are available
-Clothing will arrive by March 16th
-Trying to get clothing sooner because Kin Games people leave March 15th
-AQ tables booked for Thursday March 23rd and Friday March 24th to hand out clothing orders and sell Year End Party tickets
3) Year End Party
-$1.50/10 tickets à approximately $25 for printing costs
-Feedback on poster design:
-Don’t like “Year End Party” font
-Don’t like that “BPK” and “Year End Party” font don’t match
-Like colour scheme
-Enlarge date and time
-Add $15 cost of ticket somewhere on poster, but not too large
-Feedback on ticket design:
-Add ticket number
-Don’t include price on ticket – already purchased so it is unnecessary and may be confusing
-One sided printing to save cost, plain white on back
-Change font to match poster
-Added request for bartender, microphone, podium, and TV
-Need to discuss giveaways and trivia for at Year End Party next week
4) Trivia Night
-Wednesday March 15th 6:00pm at the Highland Pub
-No fee to attend
-Need students to help plan and advertise, please contact Jordan (jordano@sfu.ca)
-Don’t have access to main speakers for music
-Deciding whether to bring Bluetooth speakers or remove music component
-Guess song and artist while answering the trivia question – adds non-academic component
-Alternative: more questions instead of music?
-Ask Ivy to make a poster and help advertise on Facebook
-OzTrekk will sponsor prizes
5) OzTrekk Meet & Greet
-Kati is interested in starting a relationship with a new point of contact, wanting to meet other members in the BPKSA
-Want to maintain the partnership
6) Department Meeting Update
-Next month’s topic is mental health
-Email Erina if you have ideas you’d like her to pass on in the department meeting
-Will discuss more next week
-Discussed use of Excel and Matlab
-Some teachers believe students should know how to use more programs
-Not in students’ best interest to take away Excel to teach other programming
-Behavioural Neuroscience majors feeling under-represented and not included
-Department and UPC meetings do not include a BNS representative
-Will invite a representative to meetings
-Include a BNS student to BPKSA meetings for better representation
-BPKSA has extended invitations but lacking response
Motions:
Jordan motioned to reimburse Megan $281.25 for the gym rental fee for Kin Cup from the core account. Erina seconded it. Motion was passed unanimously.
Katie motioned to reimburse Megan $120 for the equipment rental fee for Kin Cup from the core account. Crystal seconded it. Motion was passed unanimously.
