Friday, August 2, 2013

Opening

The meeting of the BPKSA was called to order at 12:37pm on Friday, August 2, 2013 in AQ 5004 by Steven.

In attendance

• Steven, Megan, Debbie, Loryn, Mohammed, Matt, Joyce

Open Issues

• Wings Night
  • What we can improve for next year:
    • schedule the event earlier in the semester (it was too close to exams)
    • advertise earlier and make sure we highlight the other options besides wings (eg. vegetarian options)
  • What went well:
    • it was a good time to go as the restaurant was pretty empty so there was lots of room in case more people showed up
  • Matt Butt moved to reimburse Steven McGee up to $200 for Wings Night and it was unanimously approved
  • may have another event at the Pub on Monday August 12th
• BPK Orientation
  • the Passport and poster have been finalized and just need to be printed
  • SFSS conference rooms are booked along with the projector
  • Michelle will check mid-August when the schedule is out to see if any AQ rooms are free
  • we will tell students the location to meet each day closer to the event when we know for sure (currently it looks like Wednesday will be in an AQ room or the SFSS conference rooms and Thursday will be in the corner of the AQ near the Physics hallway of the Shrum Science Centre)
  • Michelle will send out the email inviting the new students on Aug 7, Aug 21 and Sept 4
  • still need to find a location for Peer Health to present- Steven will talk to Gina about it
  • To do:
    • Prezi for the Information Session (Steven will be up on campus throughout August to work on it. If you are free, come up to help him!)
    • get some paper and wooden sticks to make a large sign to direct the students to the meeting areas
    • create a Family Feud style game to play at the end of the Info Session (a 10-15 min long game for each cohort to compete against each other answering questions about the campus tour)
