Meeting Minutes
Friday October 24, 2014
Opening:
The meeting of the BPKSA was called to order by Loryn at 2:30 pm at the Highland Pub.
In Attendance:
Joyce, Loryn, Shaila, Valentine, Garveen, Josh, Spencer, Kirstin
Open Issues:
àProject Pulse
- Started in Ontario and a youth driven annual medical/health sciences conference
- Now incorporating all of the provinces; meant to bring together health professionals, high school and university students across the lower mainland
- Meant for high school and university students wanting to go into the health field
- Panel will be talking about their work; will include a doctors, nurses, students, chiropractors
- They want BPK speaker to participate in university panel to talk about what the program is like, careers and in BPK and why you’re in BPK
- Will be in 2015 sometime @ UBC; date TBA
- Joyce volunteered to speak for BPK
- Loryn will email the coordinator to have a BP speaker and a KIN major; anyone interested in speaking for KIN let Loryn know!
àClothing
- Sam’s friend is good with the November 11 deadline for the new design
- New design will include the lungs; will draw up a rough draft for the next meeting (will send him an anatomical picture of the lungs for guidance)
- Can possibly pay Sam’s friend for the design (will ask him what he wants to be paid)
- New items of clothing:
- Crewnecks, with vintage SFU BPK logo with ECG wave across
-Josh will work on the design
- Idea: Toques for the BPKSA members (will be discussed further)
- Ideas on how to sell the clothing this year (to avoid extra clothing being left over):
àorder forms for people to fill out, web surveys
àLaser Tag + Grant
- Ashly is still getting back to Loryn on the bookings
- @ 7 pm November 13, 2014; $11/person; maximum of 42 attendees
- Matt made the facebook event and will send it out
- With grant, we can subsidize $6 so its $5/person
- Will see how many respond to the Facebook and then we can apply for the grant
àCareer Event Update
- Loryn will send Darleen an email about the physician; still waiting for a Kinesiologist
àOthers
- Linked in photo shoot for the BPK department
- Friday, November 14th on Friday @ 2:30
